The King of hearts is the only king with out a moustache in a standard deck of playing cards.
 
The true origin of the game of chess is somewhat of a mystery, yet most agree that it may have gotten it's start in 600 ad India.
 
It's suggested that checkers may have gotten it's start in 1400 B.C  Egypt (as a game called Alquerque).
 
The first true computer checkers game was developed by Arthur L Samuel in 1952.

Baseball rules were codified in 1846 by Alexander Cartwright of the Knickerbocker Baseball Club.

Home plate is 17 inches wide.

The first 9 inning no-hitter baseball game was in Philedephia P.A on july 28th 1875.  Joseph E Borden of Philedephia's National Association team won them a 4-0 victory over Chicago.

Ken Griffey Jr and Sr were the first father & son pair to hit back to back homers for the Seattle Marriners in the game against the California Angels on Sep 14th 1990.

In 1905, 18 men died from injuries sustained on the football field. President Theodore Roosevelt stepped in and instituted safety measures to make the game safer.

The 'huddle' in football was formed due to a deaf football player who used sign language to communicate and his team didn't want the opposition to see the signals he used and in turn huddled around him.

The dimensions of a regulation football feild are 360 ft long and 160 ft wide.

A Mulligan is originaly a golf term meaning that a person retakes a shot.  In general the word Mulligan has become a synonym for redoing something.

The game of Volleyball was invented in 1895 by William G Morgan.

In 1875 Matthew Webb a 27 yr old British merchant navy captian became the first person known to successfuly swim the English Channel.
 
The high jump method of jumping head first and landing on your side is called the Fosbury Flop.
 
Kite flying is considered a profesional sport in Thailand.
 
In bowling getting three strikes in a row is called a turkey.

The first person ever to record a perfect score (300) in an American Bowling Confrence Tournament was William Knox(of Philadephia PA), on March 10th 1924.

The first ever woman bullfighter was  Patricia Mc Cormick of Big Spring Texas. She made her debute on January 20 1952 , and actualy killed two bulls on this occasion. In her first 2yrs she killed 80 bulls.
 
The first woman boxer to hold a world title was Barbara Buttrick.
 
The first ever triple jump in figure skating was performed by Dick Burton in 1952.
 
In 1991 Vojai Reed becomes the first woman ever to take part in the Bassmaster professional fishing tournament.
 
In 1993 Julie Krone became the first female jockey ever to win a Triple Crown Race (horseracing).
 
As of the winter of 1994 The Winter Olympics and Summer Olymics are now held 2 yrs apart instead of on the same year.
